An eclectic offering of traditional and contemporary art from the Peruvian Amazon.
At our shop we feature the works of Indigenous artists and communities who carry their ancestral knowledge forward as creators and representatives of their cultural identity.
Our library contains books on different Amazonian themes and are there to be referenced while in our space. Please ask our team members for guidance on specific themes.
When you purchase a piece of art from Xapiri Ground, you become the steward of that object, an object whose connection to the community and the artist who made it has now found its home, a home for the living spirit of its people and their culture.
We believe in long term relationship building with individuals and their communities who have consented to sharing their knowledge with us and the public. As multi-generational migrants, locals and foreigners, we seek to nurture a mutual understanding of the realities, ancestral and present, with our Indigenous collaborators through our practice in order to create didactic audio, visual and written representations of their ancestral knowledge for the benefit of the Indigenous people. Below is an open work of this documentation.
