Basketry and weaving is an activity that involves both men and women, and is performed for the purpose of creating a variety of objects, including baskets of different shapes and uses.
To elaborate the weavings they use materials that are extracted from the forest. Among the types of baskets used by the Iskonawa people are:
Kankan, is a basket made from the soft top of the Lupuna tree, when it is still tender (soft). This basket has a wide opening and is used to carry objects and transport food, such as corn, cassava, sachapapa, among others. "When transporting small objects, fresh leaves are placed inside to prevent them from falling" (Rodriguez, 2020).
Tasá is made from Tamshi, has a slightly round shape, and like the kankan, it is used to carry harvested products.
