Neo-Amazónico Art workshop

On the 7th of December 2024, Xapiri Ground welcomed the director of the "Usko-Ayar" Amazonian School of Painting (Pucallpa, Peru) Juan Vásquez Amaringo and fellow teacher and artist Noé Macedo Nolorve to share a painting workshop of the "Neo-Amazónico" style that was developed by the late Pablo Amaringo.

The mission of the "Usko-Ayar" school is to foster understanding and respect for the Amazonian rainforest ecosystem through artistic training in order to strengthen the cultural identity of the local youth, leading to a better quality of life. The school continues to offer workshops and classes at its original location in Pucallpa, Peru where Juan is director and Noe one of its teachers. Both are practicing artists.

The teachings of Pablo Amaringo were very much centered on capturing as much detail of the environment one was painting, almost as if you yourself were living in the landscape and that you fill in that experience with color.

Thank you to all the attendees that participated in this workshop of "Neo-Amazónico" art. And our gratitude goes to Juan and Noe for all the history, love and passion that you share for what Pablo Amaringo had left as his legacy for many generations to come.
